چکیده
The impact of micro-heterogeneity on non-Newtonian two-phase flow is the focus present study. direct numerical simulation fluids (modelled using shear stress-dependent Meter model) displacing oil in 3D Mt. Simon sandstone and 2D heterogeneous porous media were considered over a range wettabilities (strong imbibition to strong drainage), capillary numbers viscosity ratios. This study suggests that heterogeneity medium can potentially lead an unstable fluid front (even after use polymer). Therefore along with number ratio, governing factor for controlling viscous fingering, it crucial account microscale design polymer solution injection.

A New Approach for Constructing Pore Network Model of Two Phase Flow in Porous Media
Development of pore network models for real porous media requires a detailed understanding of physical processes occurring on the microscopic scale and a complete description of porous media morphology. In this study, the microstructure of porous media has been represented by three dimensional networks of interconnected pores and throats which are designed by an object oriented approach. Af...

متن کاملNumerical Modelling of Sub-pore Scale Events in Two-Phase Flow Through Porous Media
We use a new volume-of-fluid based finite-volume method to model two-phase flow through simple pore geometries and study the mechanisms controlling two-phase flow at the pore scale. The numerical model is used to study layer flow and snap-off, and investigate the effect of geometry and flow rate on trapping and mobilization of the disconnected ganglia. Furthermore, a new variable, the capillary...
متن کاملLattice-Boltzmann simulation of two-phase flow in porous media
[1] We simulate two-fluid-phase flow at the pore scale using a lattice Boltzmann (LB) approach. Using a parallel processing version of the Shan-Chen model that we developed, we simulate a set of ideal two-fluid systems and a model two-fluid-phase porous medium system comprised of a synthetic packing with a relatively uniform distribution of spheres. We use the set of ideal two-phase systems to ...
